INDIA NEWS - The fire has started again in the Manjari plant of Serum Institute of India (SII) in Pune at about seven in the evening. Efforts are on to extinguish it. The same building was also on fire at 3 pm on Thursday afternoon. When the search operation was carried out after extinguishing the fire, the dead body of 5 people was found in a burnt condition. All of them were contract laborers and came to do electrical work.

6 people were also saved

According to information received by World News superfast, the dead include Ram Shankar, Bipin Saroj (both Uttar Pradesh), Sushil Pandey (Bihar), Mahendra Ingale and Prateek Pashte (both Pune). Pune Mayor Muralidhar Mohol told Bhaskar that the dead bodies were found on the upper floor of the building. He said that the reason for the fire is not clear yet. Welding was going on in the building where there was a fire and this could also be the reason for the accident.

According to information received by World News superfast, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the accident. He said, 'I have condolences with the relatives of the dead and I pray for the quick recovery of the injured.

Kovshield's production is completely safe - Poonawala

According to information received by World News superfast, earlier SII CEO Adar Poonawala said on social media that no one has died in the fire. Later, on receiving the information of the deaths, he expressed deep sorrow. He said that unfortunately some people lost their lives in this accident. We are deeply saddened by this. He said that I want to assure the government and the people that KoviShield's production has not suffered any loss due to this accident. We have prepared several production buildings to deal with such situation.

New plant caught fire, Kovyshield was not built here

According to information received by the World News superfast, the Oxford-AstraZeneca coviShield vaccine is manufactured at the SII's Pune plant to protect against corona. However, the fire has caused no damage to the CoveShield vaccine. Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray said that the BCG vaccine was manufactured in this building. Uddhav Thackeray has ordered an inquiry into the accident and he will visit the institute tomorrow.

Coveshield is made and stored in a separate part of the campus. Recently, the process of transporting the vaccine from across the country has started.
