The Uttar Pradesh government has filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court in the Vikas Dubey encounter case. According to the UP government, a commission has been set up to probe the entire case. Vikas Dubey was a notorious gangster who brutally murdered eight police personnel. There are many misconceptions in the minds of the people regarding this encounter.
In the affidavit, the Yogi government said the vehicle overturned due to rain and lightning speed. Police personnel aboard the vehicle were seriously injured. Vikas Dubey tried to escape by snatching the pistol of one of the injured employees. He was asked to surrender but instead opened fire on police.
"We are considering forming a committee to probe the encounter case," the apex court said during a hearing on the Vikas Dubey encounter. The court also sought a reply from the government on a petition seeking CBI or SIT probe into the clash. The court had sought a reply from the UP government by Thursday.
According to the apex court, we are considering the case in the same way as the court ordered an inquiry into the Hyderabad case under the supervision of a retired Supreme Court judge. "We can do something like we did there," the apex court said in its order in the Hyderabad encounter case earlier this year.
Mumbai lawyer Ghanshyam Upadhyay and lawyer Anoop Awasthi have filed a PIL in the case. The petition seeks an inquiry into the role of the UP police. However, the petition was filed late in the night before the clash in which it was feared that Vikas might encounter Dubey. The trial is set to begin on Monday.
