Union Water Power Minister and Jodhpur MP Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has leveled heavy allegations against Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. According to Shekhawat, the chief minister is avenging his son's defeat in the Lok Sabha with him.
The SOG of the police has sent a notice to the Union Minister in this regard. Shekhawat said on Sunday that the audio clip released by the Rajasthan Congress last week was prepared by Chief Minister Gehlot to avenge his son's defeat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. In last year's Lok Sabha elections, Shekhawat defeated Chief Minister Gehlot's son and Congress candidate Vaibhav by about 2.7 lakh votes in the Jodhpur seat.
Last week, the Congress released three audio clips in which talks were being held to overthrow the Ashok Gehlot government of Rajasthan. He is accused of being one of the three people whose voices were heard in the audio clip. Apart from that, two other voices in the clip are believed to be from Congress MLA Bhanwarlal Sharma and BJP MLA Sanjay Jain and two FIRs have been registered in the case since then.
According to the Union Minister, the source of this recording is ambiguous. According to him, a case has been registered against him for foiling a possible revolt of MLAs in Rajasthan and for instilling fear in the minds of Congress MLAs staying at the Fairmont Hotel in Jaipur. He said the Rajasthan government had not investigated the matter as to how and where the audio came from on social media or who then recorded it.
According to Shekhawat, without verifying the authenticity of the clip or its source, Chief Minister Gehlot sent a statement and voice recording to the police to avenge the defeat his son suffered in 2019.
Shekhawat said he wanted to send a message to his MLAs that if they could do the same with the Union Minister, the same could happen to them. According to Shekhawat, a two-time MP, Chief Minister Gehlot had sent Rajasthan police to his Delhi home at 2 pm two days ago but they turned back through the door after questioning. According to Shekhawat, his stance on the Congress infighting in Rajasthan has been similar to that of the 2018 state elections and beyond.
Notice sent to Union Minister Shekhawat
Amid the ongoing political turmoil in Rajasthan, the SOG team of police has sent a notice to Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. According to an official, the notice has been sent to Shekhawat to file a statement alleging destabilization of the state government.
According to SOG's ADG Ashok Rathore, the notice was issued through the Union Minister's personal secretary under Section 160 of the CRPC. In the FIR registered by the police, Sharma has been identified as a Congress MLA and only the names of Gajendra Singh and Jain have been mentioned.
The thing to keep in mind here is that the name of a rebellious Congress MLA is also Gajendra Singh. According to Rathore, a case of treason and 120B criminal conspiracy has been registered against him.
