Amid a nationwide Corona epidemic, there are complaints that patients are being charged so much for 10-15 kilometers that they can fly to Europe.
Appropriate steps have been taken to control the cost of ambulances in some states. Although some states have fixed this charge fee, they are charging more by changing the rule.
30,000 charge for 10-15 km in Mumbai
In Mumbai, when the transition to corona is at its peak, patients are complaining of charging patients up to Rs 30,000 for a distance of 10-15 km, or up to Rs 3,000 for a kilometer. In the end, the Maharashtra government had to take a decision on the matter. At the end of June, Rs 8,000 was charged for a Kovid patient in Pune for 7 km within the city.
15,000 charge for 6 km in Bangalore
In Bangalore, a man paid Rs 15,000 to take his 54-year-old mother to a private hospital 6 km away. In Calcutta, a charge of Rs 6,000 to Rs 8,000 was levied for Koro patients to travel up to 5 km.
Not just an ambulance, but Rs 3,000 separately for a PPE kit
The robbery is not just a complaint of taking 20-25% fare, but in private ambulances a doctor, helper, PPE kit, as well as sanitizer are charged separately for Rs 3,000.
In Hyderabad, a private operator took Rs 11,000 from a man to transport his family member to Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad, 20 km from a hospital.
