A Brinks armored truck robbery that took place in Mobile Alabama which reportedly had an armored truck driver robbed when he stopped for coffee, was actually a setup police now say.

Originally, police responded Tuesday, January 5^th, to 4426 Higgins Road, a Chevron Station, in reference to a robbery. When officers arrived, they found the driver of a Brinks truck, and he said he stopped to get coffee and was robbed at gunpoint by two unknown men. One man held him down while the other man entered the truck and removed money. They fled the scene in a four-door passenger car prior to police arrival.

Police put out a broadcast for a blue 2010-2012 Infinity G37 with a sunroof and aftermarket black rims who were last seen in the area of Higgens Road and Tuffs Road and were considered to be armed and dangerous.

A witness reported that shots were fired during the robbery. The witness said it sounded like gunfire from an AR style rifle but no one was hurt.

But now police have determined 25-year-old Jonah Bessard, the driver of the Brinks truck was actually tied to the robbery.

Bessard has been arrested and charged with two counts of Theft of Property first degree and Theft Conspiracy first degree.

Bessard’s girlfriend, Sierra Overton, 24, has been arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property first degree and Theft Conspiracy.

Bessard’s brother, Isaiah Campbell, 24, has been arrested and charged with the same charges as Bessard’s girlfriend.

The three are connected directly with Brinks heist and are arrested on state charges with federal charges pending.
