The postmortem report of Vikas Dubey, the main accused in the Kanpur shootout, revealed some shocking details. The gist of the report was that the police shot him at close range. The report said three bullets went through his body.

It may be recalled that on July 3, Vikas opened fire on a police convoy approaching his house, killing eight policemen. He and his companions then fled.

The incident took place in Kanpur while Vikas was later spotted near the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain. According to an unconfirmed report, he wanted to surrender to the police. According to another report, the temple's security forces became suspicious and reported the matter to the police, who seized it. There were also reports that I had developed such a boom in Vikas Dubey.

While bringing him to Kanpur, the police claimed that Vikas had tried to escape from our possession and grabbed a police officer's pistol and fired at us. However, no such shooting was found at the scene of the encounter. The state government of Uttar Pradesh also upheld the police claim.

An application was made to the Supreme Court on the other hand that the police would encounter the development. The Supreme Court decided to wait until the postmortem report of Vikas ’body came. Some people also filed a petition in the Supreme Court alleging human rights violations after the development encounter.

According to the postmortem report, Vikas had a total of ten wounds on his body. Three bullets went through the body. That means he was shot from a closed range. The other four injuries occurred after the bullet had developed. The first bullet hit Vikas in the right shoulder. The other two were left-handed. The three bullets went through the body. In addition, the left side of the development had injuries to the head, elbows, ribs and abdomen. The developmental corona test was performed before the postmortem which was negative.

The post-mortem report of Vikas' body is found to be false by both the Uttar Pradesh government and the Uttar Pradesh police, so both will have to make a disclosure in the Supreme Court. Observers believe that there could be a contempt of court case against the state government and the police for providing information that could lead the court astray. The report does not rule out the possibility that human rights activists may be involved. Now the police and the state government came to the rescue.
