PERRY COUNTY IN March 12 2020 A Perry County Detention Center correctional officer has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies, following a multi-agency investigation.
Julia Naomi Allen, 25, of Tell City, was arrested by officers of the Tell City Police Department on the evening of Monday, March 9.
During a search of the facility, investigators found that Allen had brought in contraband to an inmate and was preparing to bring in additional illegal items.
Allen has been charged with trafficking with an inmate, a level 5 felony; conspiracy to commit trafficking, a level 5 felony; and official misconduct, a level 6 felony.
She is currently being held at the Perry County Detention Center but will be moved to another facility. Her bond has been set at $9,505.
Sheriff Alan Malone said in a statement that his office has no tolerance for these activities.
"I am very disappointed in one of my correctional officers and the actions she took, which could have jeopardized the safety and security of the facility,” Malone said. “We have a very professional staff here and we strive every day to maintain care, custody, and control of the inmate population, and this conduct will not be tolerated."
Agencies participating in the investigation include the Perry County Sheriff’s Office (including deputies and correctional officers), the Tell City Police Department, and officers from Branchville Correctional Facility.
