Palm Beach FL March 13 2020
The Palm Beach Police Department said Tuesday evening two people from Canada face trespassing charges after parking and remaining on President Trump's Mar-a-Lago property without permission.
A probable cause affidavit said Aaron Mennie, 62, and Katherine Poon, 54, both of British Columbia, were at the property in a Ford F-350 pickup truck taking pictures at 10 a.m. An officer told them to leave, and they complied.
However, police said at 12:20 p.m., security officers said the couple returned, entered the Mar-a-Lago property through an exit gate and parked in a rear lot.
Authorities made contact with them while they were still sitting in the truck, and police said they refused to get out of the vehicle.
The affidavit states that police eventually had to break the window of the truck using batons to remove the couple and arrest them.
Palm Beach police said the sheriff's office bomb squad later responded and cleared the pickup truck and removed it from the property.
The police department said, "at no time was the community, guests at Mar-a-Lago or Mar-a-Lago staff at risk."
Both of the individuals face charges of trespassing after warning and resisting without violence.
President Trump was not at Mar-a-Lago at the time of the incident
