Former Employee Accused of Stealing $1.1 Million From Fire Alarm Company privateofficer.org

SECAUCUS, N.J. Jan 6 2021— Sophia Diakomihalis was arrested last Monday after being accused of stealing $1.1 million from Firetronics, a fire alarm company based here.

NJ.com reports that the woman worked at the company as an office manager for eight years and was arrested following a months-long investigation into the alleged theft.

Diakomihalis was charged with three counts of second degree theft and one count of criminal attempt.

In August, a representative of the company reported to police that large sums of money had been electronically withdrawn from an account. Police subsequently learned that $1.1 was stolen from the account and identified Diakomihalis as the person responsible, Police Chief Dennis Miller says.

Miller adds that authorities along with the help of the Trial Investigations Unit from the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office searched Diakomihalis’ home and seized additional evidence related to the crime.

“The effort put into solving this case demonstrates that the Secaucus Police Department is committed to investigating all crimes that victimize any resident of Secaucus, including commercial businesses,” Miller says. “I want to personally thank the Trial Investigations Unit of the Brooklyn, NY District Attorney’s Office for helping the Secaucus Police Department extend its reach across state lines to make this arrest and gather additional evidence against the suspect.”
