San Diego security officer dragged while trying to stop car thief privateofficer.org

 




SAN DIEGO CA December 31 2020 

A security officer who was carjacked and assaulted is now hospitalized after the late Tuesday attack.

Police that he was assaulted after he tried to stop a man from stealing his company.
He was assaulted and thrown to the pavement, San Diego police said.

The victim found the man inside his vehicle on Sixth Avenue near J Street around 11:20 p.m. and tried to pull him from the car, said police Officer Scott Lockwood.

Instead, the man started to drive off. The security guard grabbed hold of the steering wheel and was dragged about a third of a block before he was pushed to the ground, Lockwood said.

The security officer suffered abrasions and other injuries and complained of pain. He was transported by medics to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The car was later found ditched a short distance away on K Street near Fourth Avenue.

The vehicle was impounded for evidence, and police are still looking for the assailant.

The suspect was described as a tall Black man in his 20s to 30s wearing a gray sweater and black pants.
