PeaceHealth Southwest officials report Liliya Zagariya was shot while serving as a concierge privateofficer.org

Vancouver WA Dec 26 2020 “Our healthcare community suffered a tragic and heartbreaking loss yesterday when one of our caregivers, Liliya Zagariya, was shot while serving as a concierge in the lobby of the 505 medical office building on our PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center campus,” read a statement from PeaceHealth Wednesday. “Our thoughts, support and prayers go out to her family. All of us grieve with them.”

Zagariya was one of two people who were shot Tuesday afternoon at the medical facility in Vancouver. Both died of their wounds.

The other deceased individual is a 58-year-old male identified by the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office as Douglas Moore. A Vancouver Police report indicated that Investigators can confirm that Moore entered the clinic lobby, shot Zagariya, who was working the front desk, and then turned the gun on himself. There is no information that the two knew each other.

The incident appears random in nature. The investigation by the Vancouver Police Department Major Crimes Unit is continuing.

“We are partnering with the Vancouver Police Department in this active investigation,” read the statement from PeaceHealth Wednesday. “They confirmed that this was an isolated incident that appears random in nature and the threat from this situation no longer exists. Our commitment is always to do everything we can to keep our work environment safe for our caregivers, patients and visitors. Out of an abundance of caution, we are adding additional security at all points of entrance.”

PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center was placed in lockdown Tuesday afternoon after a shooting. Just after 1 p.m., police were called to a reported shooting at 505 NE 87th Avenue in Vancouver, WA., a medical facility adjacent to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. Security officers put PeaceHealth Southwest into modified lockdown with most entrances closed.

The situation was safely contained, and both the 505 building and PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center were all clear and no longer in lockdown about an hour after the report of the shooting.

The 505 NE 87th Ave. building is owned and managed by Pacific Medical Buildings Real Estate Services. PeaceHealth Southwest offers numerous services in the 505 Building including its Vision Center, Oncology and Infusion, Maternal Fetal Medicine, PeaceHealth Medical Group Family Medicine, and Sleep Disorders Clinic.

“I think it was a scary moment for a lot of our caregivers in that building. And we did have a few patients in that building as well receiving care,” said Dr. Lawrence Neville, chief medical officer for PeaceHealth Southwest. “I just want to compliment the Vancouver police department and other folks who responded so rapidly, and let us bring that to successful conclusion in terms of reestablishing safety in that area.”
