Patna, dated 16 July 2020, Thursday
When CM Nitish Kumar inaugurated the Rs 264 crore bridge in Gopalganj district in Bihar on June 16, exactly one month ago, he may not have imagined that the bridge would be a disgrace to his government.
Within a month of its inauguration, a large part of the Rs 264 crore bridge has collapsed. Thus, Rs 264 crore has been washed away. Construction of the bridge started in 2012.
Opposition RJD, meanwhile, has targeted the government, saying that Nitish Kumar, the grandfather of the joint corruption ring, would not utter a word in the matter and would not dismiss the responsible minister. Looting is rampant in Bihar.
In this case, the Bihar government's road construction minister has issued a bizarre statement, saying that in natural calamities, there are frequent incidents of roads and bridges collapsing.
