FAMU-FSU College of Engineering Associate Professor Subramanian Ramakrishnan, Ph.D., recently received the 2020 Joseph Cannon Award in chemical engineering from the National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE).
The award recognizes achievements in chemical engineering which include, but are not limited to, teaching, leadership, research and development, and engineering and construction.
“I am honored to be given this award by NOBCChE and I am truly grateful to FAMU for giving me an opportunity to serve the institution," said Ramakrishnan. "It is the motto of FAMU, “Excellence with Caring” which is driving me to do well."
In addition to his role as an associate professor, Ramakrishnan has helped secure over $10 million dollars to enhance and improve the research infrastructures in the college.
"Dr. Ramakrishnan is one our stars in chemical engineering, being the leader of our National Science Foundation CREST Research Center, and a leader in graduate education of underrepresented minorities," said J. Murray Gibson, Ph.D., dean of the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering. "He is very well deserving of this recognition on the national level.”
