Sacramento CA March 5 2020 Detectives on Tuesday released security camera video of two suspects assaulting a Sacramento store security guard who caught them shoplifting and was punched numerously as they got away, police officials said.
The security guard suffered moderate injuries from the assault and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, according to a news release from the Sacramento Police Department. The detectives are asking for the help to help identify the two suspects seen in the video.
The strong-arm robbery occurred Feb. 14 at the store in the 2800 block of Del Paso Road in Natomas. Police said the suspects entered the store about 9 p.m. and tried to leave with merchandise without paying.
The security guard confronted the suspects and tried to stop them from leaving with the merchandise. Then, the suspects punched the guard numerous times and left the store, according to the news release.
The security guard followed the suspects outside, where they continued to assault the guard, police said.
The suspects appeared to be in their late teens or early 20s. Police described one as a male standing about 5 feet, 8 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches tall wearing a red shirt with black sleeves and “Champion” written on the front. He also had a “Z” tattoo on his right arm, according to police.
Police described the other suspect as a male standing about 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall wearing a black sweater with the Pittsburgh Steelers logo and gray sweatpants. They both left in a black sedan.
The detectives asked anyone with information about the robbery to call Sacramento police at (916) 808-5471 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at (916) 443-4357. The public also can submit a confidential tip through the P3 Tips website and app. There is a reward of up to $1,000.
