West Palm Beach FL March 6 2020In a club with at least 60 other people, a man lifted his gun and fired.
It was early Sunday in an automotive shop on Greenwood Avenue that had been converted for the weekend to “Club Snappa,” West Palm Beach police records say.
Andre Hall was upset that security told a man to leave the club, his cousin told city police. He wanted to break up the fight.
Hall would go on to fire numerous more rounds even as two security guards and a woman working the front door tried to wrestle the gun away from him. One guard eventually shot Hall, but not before the woman was shot in the hand, wrist and chest, records show.
On Wednesday authorities arrested Hall, 23, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, where he continues to be treated for a gunshot wound to his chest. He faces numerous counts of armed aggravated assault, carrying a concealed gun and discharging a firearm in public. He will appear before a judge for a bail hearing once he is released.
One security guard told city police that he noticed a man harassing women in the club and tried to escort him out at about 4 that morning.
The man fought back and multiple others came to fight off the security guard.
Hall’s cousin told authorities that Hall was upset about the incident, though he was neither involved nor knew the man who was.
Nevertheless, he pulled out a 9 mm Heckler & Koch, which was reported stolen in April 2018 from somewhere in Palm Beach County, and fired a bullet into the ceiling.
A second guard tackled Hall. They fell through the front entrance of the club and onto the ground, where the other guard joined in the struggle to take away Hall’s gun. However, Hall was able to pull the trigger and fired multiple rounds, they said.
The guard who tackled Hall said he saw a bullet whiz past his face, prompting him to step away from Hall and grab his own gun. As he did, Hall lifted his gun into the air. The guard fired at least two shots at Hall, but Hall kept firing. He eventually collapsed.
The woman who was working the front door taking entrance fees said she had Hall in a headlock when she heard gunshots. She said she wasn’t entirely sure who fired them, but soon after her arm became numb.
She could not be reached for comment.
Records do not list a home address for Hall, and it does not appear that he has a criminal history in Palm Beach County.
