Disturbance at Columbia mall between teens and security sends people fleeing privateofficer.org

COLUMBIA MO March 3 2020 An incident between a group of teenagers and mall security guards at the Columbia Mall Saturday night caused other shoppers to leave.
Columbia police responded to the mall around 6:15 p.m. Saturday. Mall employees told KOMU 8 that almost 20 police cars responded.
A KOMU 8 employee was inside the mall during the incident. She said she saw a group of around 20 teenagers arguing with two mall security guards. She said the whole incident lasted about 20 minutes.
According to a mall employee, at one point some stores began to lock their gates and security was preparing to evacuate the mall.
The KOMU 8 employee said the incident appeared to end with a large group rushing toward multiple exits in the food court. She said the disturbance caused a lot of panic and confusion among shoppers.
It's still unclear if any one was hurt and what started the disturbance. KOMU 8 has reached out to mall security and the Columbia Police Department for more information.
The mall security office said it could not make a comment until management returns to the office on Monday.
